Janos Zoltan was a TV-Journalist before he became a documentary film-maker. He worked as a sport commentator-producer for the Hungarian Television, but he slowly realised that his real passion and interest were portraits, historically exciting stories as well as momentous human decisions. Although he already had 15 years experience in Television he became a student at a Film School in Australia to master his skills of directing/writing/editing documentary films. Despite the fact that he has already won awards in his native and other European countries, he refers to the Victorian College of the Arts with admiration: This 2 year degree in Master of Film and Television at VCA meant a lot to me. It has strengthened my creative thinking both in theory and practice.
He continuously works as a freelancer in Australia for different productions as a film maker, camera operator (DOP) and for the Hungarian Television as a TV-journalist, producing, shooting and editing short documentaries, current affairs. Janos recently finished his final 20 minute long film as his graduate production; Secret Matters opens a door to the reclusive award winning writer, Gerald Murnane's hidden world and leads us to his passion.., to a faraway culture and a love affair.
